My name is Barbara Szilfai, founder and owner of Quote Bedlington Terrier Kennel FCI.
I first discovered the Bedlington Terrier in 2013 when I walked into Kata Plásztán’s grooming salon with a clear goal in mind: to learn what I believed to be an underrated yet highly demanding profession. At the time, I had no idea that I would leave with something even more life-changing than a new career. Few grooming students have the privilege of practicing their first, uncertain scissor strokes on Bedlington Terriers.
Kata and her wonderful, intelligent companions, Nara and Drummer, not only helped me master the art of grooming, but also introduced me to an extraordinary breed. It did not take long for me to realize that this still relatively rare breed in Hungary, yet one with remarkable versatility and endless potential, was exactly the kind of dog I wanted to share my life with.
In 2018, Yana, our spirited liver-colored Bedlington Terrier, joined our family. She quickly proved everything I had already come to admire about the breed. At only a few months of age, we began competing at dog shows both in Hungary and abroad. Alongside numerous national and international achievements, Yana was awarded Junior European Winner 2019 and also won Best in Show at a Hungarian Terrier Club specialty show.
It soon became clear that my ambitions with the breed extended far beyond showing.
Because if there is one thing better than a Bedlington Terrier, it is having even more Bedlington Terriers in your home.
In 2020, our family grew with our male, Mikey, completing the pair that became the foundation of our kennel.
Quote Bedlington Terrier Kennel is officially registered with both the FCI and MEOESZ. Our puppies are bred from genetically health-tested parents that are clear of Copper Toxicosis. They leave for their new homes with an FCI pedigree, age-appropriate vaccinations, a written contract, and an official invoice. Raised in our home as members of the family, our puppies receive early socialization in a loving environment. We remain in close contact with our puppy families throughout each dog’s life, providing guidance and support whenever needed—not only during the first weeks, but for many years to come.
Over the years, our puppies have found wonderful homes across Europe, North America, Asia, and, of course, here in Hungary. They have excelled not only as beloved family companions, but also in the show ring and as valuable contributors to breeding programs around the world.
As a responsible breeder, my goal is to introduce more people to the exceptional qualities of this unique-looking yet truly remarkable breed. The Bedlington Terrier is an intelligent, affectionate, versatile companion that adapts beautifully to a wide variety of lifestyles. My commitment is to preserve not only the breed’s health, but also the wonderful temperament, character, and qualities that make the Bedlington Terrier one of the hidden treasures of the canine world.
